Jazz trombonist and photographer Tom Artin lived for years with an aggressive PVNS knee tumor. After being told amputation was the only option, he turned to Dr. James C. Wittig, who performed a two-stage limb-sparing surgery to remove the tumor and reconstruct the knee. Tom fully recovered—traveling to Europe soon after—and later credited Dr. Wittig’s continued coordination of his care with adding years of mobility and joy.
